Join Cheryl Dyer, Omaha calligrapher and lettering artist, as she leads students in learning the basics of pointed-pen calligraphy. This is a TWO-SESSION, ONLINE (via Zoom) class that will cover both lower and upper cases of Copperplate calligraphy.
In the first session, students will be given a brief history of Copperplate Script, and overview of tools and materials and instruction on how to use them. After learning some basic strokes using a traditional steel nib and oblique pen holder, students will delve into learning the lower case alphabet.
In the second session, the class will review or finish any info from the previous week and then begin working on uppercase Copperplate.
Registered students will receive supplies for the class either by mail or personal delivery if in Omaha metro area. The supplies included in your packet are: pen/nib, paper, washi tape, ink, and a detailed exemplar packet that includes re-usable guide sheets. Students will need to provide their own rinse water cup, paper towels and pencil.
No calligraphy experience (or good handwriting!) needed, advanced or intermediate students will also benefit from guidance by an experienced instructor. This class is intended for students age 14+

By registering for this class you’re giving your permission for this class to be recorded. This recorded class will ONLY be made available to registered students.
If registered students are unable to join our live classes, they are invited to watch our recorded class at their leisure. Recorded classes will be available to students via a shared Dropbox folder 2-3 days after live class. Because of class availability option, students unable to attend live will not be issued a refund.
A detailed message about how to log into Zoom and tips for having the best online class experience will be emailed to each student after registration.
