You’ve practiced and practiced your Copperplate calligraphy and you’ve addressed a few envelopes and written some place cards. Now what? How do you move on to making a small art piece? In this class we will cover:
How to make changes to the basic Copperplate script to fit the “feel” of a quotation or text
How to create flourishes to add movement and unity to a piece
Layout, design and thumbnail sketches
How to execute a final piece
This class will have optional (but helpful!) homework between class meeting periods. Two weeks after the class ends, students will be encouraged to submit final pieces for an optional, online class-only gallery show.
Students will be responsible for gathering their own supplies from the supply list provided.
